I was excited to try a new product from DHC, the Dry Skin Care Cream. I always check the ingredients before using a product however, and was surprised and upset to discover the lotion contains the oil from a fish called the Orange Roughy. This is a fish that is vulnerable to overfishing due to it's lengthy maturation period (30 years). Even if caring for the environment isn't a general concern, perhaps using a product that contains animal ingredients is. I encourage DHC to seek alternative, renewable and non animal ingredients for their products, and I will happily become a customer again.

The orange roughy, red roughy, slimehead, or deep sea perch is a relatively large deep-sea fish belonging to the slimehead family. The Marine Conservation Society has categorized orange roughy as "vulnerable to exploitation". Enough said, maybe I should start looking into the ingredients of the other products from DHC that I have been using for years. I was initially excited to see DHC offering a body cream, tried the sample and was intrigued...logged on to place and order and decided against, mainly based off of the use of a perch that is "vulnerable to exploitation" this may be taking the "all natural" route too far. I have been a loyal customer for 10+ years, but this may just sway me to look into other skin care options.

I have used DHC products on and off, and I'm still using some of them. I have also introduced it to some of my family members and they like most of DHC products. When I started, with DHC many years ago, I thought they only used natural products, and have not read the ingredients on any product for a long time, and that is my fault. When I got the sample for dry skincare cream and used it on my hands, I was really pleased. I wash my hands very often, and they feel like sand paper. I decided against it for two reasons. Number one concern is that they use perch and that is not ok with me. Number two is that it is very expensive. I probably use about an ounce of that per day, if not more, and it will cost me a lot to keep my hand soft.

I use this cream on my face. I have a whole drawer full of rejected face creams, looking for the magic bullet. This Dry Skin Cream is just perfect. It is somewhat thick and goes on nice and smoothly. It really does "loosen" the face wrinkles that have appeared across my cheeks, and makes my makeup go on more smoothly. It's on the expensive side but a little goes a long way and the tube is an appreciable size, so all in all it's a great buy for a really good product. I'll use my rejects for hand cream and save this Dry Skin Cream for my face.
